Salisbury swimmer Phil Muspratt competed at the 2017 British Masters Championships this past weekend. The three day event attracted hundreds of swimmers from across the Britain. With the World Championships on the horizon in Budapest in August, this meet posed an ideal final preparation meet before their final block of training heading into the seasons show piece in Hungary.
Jones & Co sponsored swimmer Phil Muspratt went in 5 individual events, his main events the 100 & 50m freestyle as well as the 200m freestyle, 100 & 50m backstroke. This meet was his first major meet since returning from the World Masters Games in New Zealand in April.
Phil claimed a bronze medal in each of the 200m freestyle, 100 & 50m backstroke, claiming season best times in the latter two events. His final two events we his all important 100m & 50m freestyle where he upped his game & showed marked improvements on his previous performances in New Zealand & at the Welsh National Masters Championships in March. On the Saurday afternoon, Phil who was seeded 2nd, took gold in the 50m freestyle with his third seasons best time of the meet. In the evening session Phil was back in the pool for the 100m discipline claiming his 2nd British title & gold.
“I am delighted to be British Champion again & to be feeling that I’m edging back to some sort of form. I have around 8 weeks until Budapest & I aim to make big improvements leading up to the World Championships in Hungary. I’m so grateful to Jones & Co for their continued support, I can’t wait to get back in the pool on Monday & get training.” added Phil.
