Phil Muspratt put in a 5 star performance this weekend at the Scottish National Masters Short Course Championships in Aberdeen. Held at the Aberdeen Sports Village the two day event will be his last major competition before the European Championships at the end of May.
Phil entered the 200m, 100m & 50m freestyle as well as the 100m & 50m backstroke. His weekend got off to a great start by winning his first medal in the 100m freestyle, in a seasons best time of 52.29 seconds. On the second day of competition Phil took two more golds in the morning session winning the 200m freestyle & the 50m backstroke. The afternoon session brought the 100m backstroke & 50m freestyle where the Jones & Co sponsored swimmer took his forth & fifth gold medal of the meet. Phil’s times in all three of his freestyle events has put him firmly on top of the UK rankings for his age group.
“I’m encouraged with my times from the weekend, my 100m freestyle was by far my best swim & it showed that I’m approaching the sort of speeds I was swimming before I got back in the pool last year after 6 months out. There’s much to improve on so my times will ultimately continue to drop. The Europeans are about 4 weeks away now so training will become very specific in the lead up to those before I taper ahead of London. Many thanks to Jones & Co who made this weekend possible.”
