Phil Muspratt claimed a handful of medals at the Welsh National Masters Championships this past weekend. The Wales National Pool in Swansea was the stage for the annual season opener. Swimmers from across Wales & England flocked to the first big long course meet of the year, before this year’s British Championships in June & World Championships in August.
Phil Muspratt returned with two golds and two silver medals. He took wins in the two splash & dash events; the 50m freestyle & backstroke before settling for silver in the 200m freestyle (after using it as a 100m TT & swimming down the final 100m) & 100m backstroke.
“It’s been a real difficult few months after damaging ankle ligaments just as my season was about to start late last summer & then my Mum suffering from cancer. She is on the mend now all is fine. I’ve been training well since new year & now it’s about getting some races under my belt & back on track.”
“This is my first event since the European Championships so my times were way off what I can do but they are what they are. First race in 9 months was never going to be anything special time-wise. Massive appreciation to Jones & Co for their support” added Phil.
